In this class (Class 46 on Sunday, June 1st at 9:30 am PST), we discuss verses 6.13–17 of the Bhagavad Gita.

Study Questions

1. In verse 6.17 of the Gita, most commentators--including Shankara, Ramanuja, and Swami Tapasyananda--interpret the term "yukta" to be mean "moderate." What is Sri Aurobindo's interpretation of the term "yukta" in 6.17, and how does it differ from that of other commentators?

2. Do you find Sri Aurobindo's interpretation of "yukta" in 6.17 plausible? Why or why not?

3. Verses 6.16–17 encourage us to be careful about what and how we eat. For you personally, how does what and how you eat affect your day-to-day spiritual life? How important is food in your spiritual life?

4. Do you have any questions about the reading? Did you have difficulty understanding anything? Do you have any doubts or confusions?
